The ElipSafe Elliptical Mobile Crash Cushion is designed to protect temporary roadworks, service vehicles, and incident sites within the road lane, safeguarding personnel and equipment against the effects of collisions. Its innovative design—a proprietary solution developed by WIMED engineers—is fully hot-dip galvanized (per EN ISO 1461) and utilizes specially curved absorbing modules for progressive kinetic energy absorption. This performance is confirmed by full compliance with the CEN/TS 16786 standard, achieved during the very first attempt of every crash test.
Product Features:
- Proven safety is guaranteed by full compliance with the European Technical Specification (CEN/TS 16786).
- Innovative energy absorption is achieved through a design based on special elliptical steel modules that progressively absorb impact energy.
- The entire structure, including the drawbar, is hot-dip galvanized in accordance with the EN ISO 1461 standard.
- Equipped with a U-26a signaling board featuring Type 2 (Class RA2) reflective sheeting and „Stokrotka” (Daisy) LED lamps, with remote lifting and programming capabilities.
- ElipSafe is a fully registered trailer with a VIN number and type-approval, authorized for road use in Poland and throughout the European Union.

U-26a Signalling Board
- Regulatory Compliance Manufactured in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure dated July 3, 2003, regarding detailed technical conditions for road signs, signals, and road safety devices.
- Reflective Sheeting Face covered with Type 2 (Class RA2) reflective sheeting. Optional upgrade to Type 3 (Class RA3) is available.
- Early Warning Lamps Two „Stokrotka” (Daisy) high-intensity LED lamps, 300mm, located at the top of the board.
- Directional Light Arrows Left/right directional arrows composed of „Stokrotka” (Daisy) LED warning lamps, 200mm.
- Adjustable Road Sign Features an adjustable mandatory sign (directional arrow) at the bottom of the board.
- Power Supply 12V DC lamp power system.
- Control System Remote-controlled from the driver’s cabin or externally via a wireless remote.
- Operational Functions Enables remote lifting/lowering of the U-26a board and electronic light programming (signalling patterns).

On the A2 motorway, the „ElipSafe” crash cushion protected road workers from a collision with a tanker truck. By absorbing the full force of the impact, the system ensured that all personnel working on the road remained unharmed.

Collision on the A2 Motorway
A passenger vehicle collided with a maintenance truck that was securing ongoing roadworks within the roadway. Fortunately, the road service vehicle was equipped with a Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA), which significantly decelerated the impacting car, thereby minimizing the consequences of the collision. No injuries were reported. This incident once again proves the necessity of using impact attenuators, especially on high-speed roads where vehicle velocities are substantial.

While securing roadworks, it was impacted by a passenger vehicle – thanks to the shield's reliable design, no injuries occurred, and the protection system fulfilled its role 100%. „ElipSafe” is a system engineered for the highest level of safety for both motorists and road crews. By operating exactly as intended, the cushion effectively minimized the consequences of the incident, protecting the lives and health of all road users.
